Courses and Accreditations
How can a CIPS designee assist a client?
A client can benefit from the expertise of a CIPS designee in navigating the complexities of global transactions. These transactions, which involve issues such as currency exchange, financing, visa regulations, and tax laws, require a skilled and knowledgeable professional. A REALTOR® with a CIPS designation can offer the necessary support to ensure a successful real estate transaction.
What is the CIPS Designation?
The Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) designation is a globally recognized qualification offered by the National Association of REALTORS®. To earn this designation, a REALTOR® must complete specialized training in handling international transactions with reduced risk.
What does the training involve?
The CIPS coursework comprises five full days of study, focusing on various critical aspects of global transactions. These include currency and exchange rate issues, cross-cultural relationships, regional market conditions, investment performance, and tax issues. The coursework is designed to equip CIPS designees with the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate complex international real estate deals.
What are the benefits of working with a CIPS designee?
By working with a CIPS designee, a client gains access to a global network of over 3,500 real estate professionals across 45 countries. These referral partners can provide local insights and ensure that the client receives consistent service, regardless of where the transaction takes place. Moreover, a CIPS designee’s expertise can help reduce risks associated with global transactions, ensuring a successful outcome.
The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) currently defines a REALTOR® specializing in resort & second-home markets as, “a real estate practitioner who facilitates the buying, selling, or management of properties for investment, development, retirement, or second homes in a resort, recreational, and/or vacation destination.”

What My Clients Have to Say
Client Testimonials
Kelly was so patient and understanding in helping us find our perfect family cottage. Her knowledge and understanding of recreational properties in Muskoka helped us to make the best investment.
We were looking for a property in Collingwood that we could use ourselves but also rent when we were not using the property. Kelly’s knowledge of the short and long term rental market in Collingwood was so valuable in helping us find the right property. We now enjoy skiing in the winter months at our ski chalet and have full rentals throughout the other season to help offset our operating costs. We were so pleased with Kelly’s expertise to guide us to the right decision.
I was looking for a property that needed some work. My plan was to renovate and then rent out as a vacation rental property. Kelly’s understanding of renovation and design was invaluable in the process of finding the right cottage for my dream!
